How to Wire the Conductive Slip Ring Correctly?
Overview
Conductive slip rings can transmit power, signals and data, and they can be used in rotating equipment such as industrial manufacturing and entertainment facilities. However, only when they are correctly wired can they operate normally. Today, ByTune will explain the correct operation skills to help you better use the slip rings.
The Wiring Part of the Slip Ring
The conductive slip ring mainly consists of two parts: the stator (conductive ring) and the rotor (brush). Among them, the conductive ring is fixed on the copper ring of the upper bearing base, and its wiring port is connected to an external fixed power supply or signal source. The brush is fixed on the outer casing of the slip ring, and the outgoing line is generally designed near the central axis. The two achieve electrical conduction through close and continuous contact.
Principles to be Noted When Wiring
lMatching of Electrical Parameters: The rated voltage, current, number of channels and other parameters of the selected slip ring should meet the operating requirements of the equipment. If the voltage is too high, it may instantaneously break through the insulating layer of the slip ring, and current overload will cause the slip ring to overheat.
lStability: The wiring of any slip ring must be highly secure, whether it is welding or plugging. Because when the equipment is running, the slip ring is in a constant rotating state. And even a slight loosening may lead to poor contact, resulting in signal interruption or the generation of electric sparks.
lCompatibility: The material of the wire we choose should meet the conditions of the slip ring's working temperature, humidity, electromagnetic interference and other conditions. The specifications of its plug and socket and other connecting components need to be adapted to the equipment interface. Sometimes, precision electronics and laboratory equipment will require that these wires be wrapped with a layer of metal foil inside to prevent data from being affected by electromagnetic interference.
Wiring Types of Conductive Slip Rings
The way of slip ring wiring will also change due to the slip ring type and installation method. This is mainly divided into several types such as through-hole type, flange type and split type.
(1) Through-hole Type: The through-hole slip ring usually has outgoing lines at both ends of the slip ring and the end face of the rotor central shaft. If there are more channels, there will be two or three elliptical outgoing holes. The outgoing line at the stator end is generally on the side end face, and mostly 1 to 2 elliptical outgoing holes.
(2) Flange Type: The stator end and rotor end of the flange type slip ring can be led out from the middle of the slip ring. If the slip ring is large in size, it can also be led out from the side.
(3) Split Type: The outgoing line method of this type of slip ring is the same as that of the traditional carbon brush slip ring. The outgoing line at the rotor end is on the shaft wall of the central shaft, and the stator end is led out from the side brush holder.
Circuit Arrangement Methods of the Slip Ring
(1) Parallel Wiring: This refers to the parallel arrangement of the wires on the slip ring and the wires on the rotor. It is suitable for the transmission of a single circuit and can also help us quickly sort out the wires.
(2) Cross Wiring: It refers to the way of cross-arrangement of the two parts of wires, which can make the direction of the wires more flexible. This kind of wiring is suitable for the situation of simultaneously transmitting multiple circuits and can also reduce signal interference.
(3) Series Wiring: In this way, we connect the multiple channels of the slip ring in sequence to form a series circuit. It is convenient for the distribution and control of current and voltage. In series wiring, the current is sequentially transferred between the channels, and the total voltage is equal to the sum of the voltages of each channel.
Conclusion
Well, now we have understood the basic wiring knowledge of conductive slip ring. But in the actual application, we also need to choose the appropriate wiring and wire materials according to different circuit requirements. If you still have doubts about this, ByTune's professional team is always waiting to answer for you.
